for business licensing, legal forms of business, record keeping,
taxes, marketing and finance.
WRITING
YOUR OWN BUSINESS PLAN - Provides a functional format
to develop a business plan from the mission and goals to marketing,
accounting, finance, operations, legal, personnel, management,
and administration.
RECORD
KEEPING FOR SMALL BUSINESS - Surveys the accounting
cycle from data gathering through journals and ledgers to
financial statements for manual and computer systems.
FINANCIAL
MANAGEMENT - Learn to understand and use the financial
statements and ratio analysis to manage profit. Also, how
to write a financial proposal.
TAX
SEMINAR FOR SMALL BUSINESS - Current information
on Schedule C, self-employment and estimated taxes; procedures
for completing returns and collection process: discussion
of EINSS-4, employer, employee relations, W-2, W-4, 1099 requirements,
Circular E, forms 940.
HUMAN
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Job descriptions and requirements,
performance appraisal, selection and staffing, training and
development, improving commitment, performance and productivity,
administration of benefits and legal requirements.

THE LENDERS - Panel format with local bankers and
SBA. Learn what it means to be "bankable", elements
of a winning loan proposal, the loan process, and the facts
about SBA loan programs.
MARKETING
FOR PROFIT - Set goals and develop a plan to target
your market, define your product, position and price competitively,
promote and distribute effectively.
PROTECTING
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY - How to protect your ideas
and inventions from the first disclosure to commercialization
and beyond. Learn about innovation assessment, disclosure
and non-disclosure documents, patents, trademarks and copyrights.
HOW
TO BUY OR SELL A BUSINESS - Learn the objective criteria
and methods to determine the value of business assets, internal
rate of return, project payback period, and franchising.
EXPORT
ASSISTANCE SEMINAR - Identify ways to establish,
develop and expand your international business: learn about
financing options, export loan guarantee programs and the
Export-Import Bank; familiarize yourself with the government
programs and private sector organizations offering assistance.
